Participate. Interact. Connect.
In an age of electronic communications, cars and cubicles, it is easy to feel disconnected from community and nature. That’s why Acterra offers innumerable opportunities to interact with our local ecosystems — and with each other.

On any given Saturday, Acterra’s volunteers and
staff can be found outside, getting their hands dirty to clean up the local ecosystems of the Midpeninsula.
Acterra coordinates large-scale habitat restoration efforts in the foothills and watersheds of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

The Arastradero Preserve Stewardship Project is collaborating with the City of Palo Alto to control invasive species and restore over 600 acres of native habitat in the foothills.

Staff, volunteers, and community members all have an opportunity to participate in these habitat restoration projects, and to learn about and connect with our local ecosystems.

Ways to get involved

Fight invasive plants with Weed Warriors at the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve on Wednesday evenings.

Propagate California native plants at Acterra's Native Plant Nursery.

Drop in on a Saturday morning and volunteer at either Pearson-Arastradero Preserve or our Native Plant Nursery.

Bring your friends, classmates, or coworkers! Acterra schedules private community service days for schools, corporations, and other groups.

Help monitor bird boxes in Santa Clara County, with the Arastradero stewards.
