What is the High Energy Homes Project?

The High Energy Homes project helps residents in homes with high PG&E bills to analyze and identify costly energy “leaks” that provide little or no value. Through a free on-line analysis of your PG&E bill data, the program creates an energy profile for your home and highlights low-cost energy-saving opportunities that can significantly reduce your bills and conserve energy.

The audit starts online via a secure website. A home visit may be scheduled if the data from your home's energy profile presents an unusual pattern.

Because of our grant funding, Acterra's High Energy Homes project is currently available only for residents of:

  • Atherton
  • Los Altos Hills
  • Monte Sereno
  • Portola Valley
  • Woodside

In addition, residents must qualify to participate by meeting the following criteria:

  1. Has PG&E installed a Smart Meter for both gas & electricity at your home?
  2. You do NOT have solar PV, since PG&E does not install Smart Meters for solar customers.
  3. Have you lived in the property for at least 12 months?
  4. Do you agree to share with Acterra the information in the past 12 months' PG&E bill and in the 12 months following your audit?

If you meet these criteria, please click here:

If you do not meet all the criteria right now, but are still interested, we will gladly place you on a waiting list. Acterra is funded to provide 1,000 online audits with a goal of saving approximately 170,000 kWhrs/year. Additionally, if your Smart Meter is not yet installed or you have lived in the house less than a year, for example, we can work with you when those conditions are met.
