Green Step 1: The Water Audit
For those of you that are into the numbers, here is an excel spreadsheet
to help you with the water audit. Remember, no cheating. Fill out the before sheet before you take any water actions.
This will also give you the best before and after numbers.

Listed below are water districts and utilities for the counties around the Bay Area. Each site has conservation tips, rebate programs,
and water quality information.
Marin Municipal Water District There is lots of good information here under the conservation link
as well as general info about water and rebate programs in Marin. If you are in North Marin (Navato) see
North Marin Water District.
San Francisco Water This site has everything you want to know about water in San Francisco,
from beginning to end and everything in between, conservation, rebates, where the water comes from and where it goes.
Alameda County Water District Lots of good information on water conservation, landscaping and drought tolerant gardens and

California Urban Water Conservation Council CUWCC was created to increase efficient water use state wide
through partnerships among urban water agencies, public interest organizations, and private entities.
The San Francisquito Watershed Council The Watershed Council works on hands-on restoration,
native plant nersery, fish passage removel, citizen Streamkeeper program, monitoring and creek assesment watershed education and more.

American Water Works Association The AWWA is an international nonprofit scientific and educational
society dedicated to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply.
Water Quality Information Center The WQIC is an electronic portal to information about water and
