The strong historical link between carbon emissions and economic

looming challenge. Our challenge is cutting emissions while powering a
global economic engine likely to grow more than 10-fold in the 21st
century. Many low-emitting technologies are available today, but moving
them from the laboratory scale to global energy system is the grand
challenge of our era.
