restoration at Bair Island—a former salt pond off-limits to
the public and accessible by boat. Volunteers will plant native species
like common aster and white yarrow species to revitalize critical San
Francisco Bay wetlands. Please bring your own lunch to enjoy out on the
water.
Minimum age is 10 for canoe paddles; please call for exceptions.
Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. All boating
equipment and instruction is provided. Each event is led by Save The
Bay staff trained in CPR and Wilderness First Aid and all sites have
been scouted for a safe journey.

(2:30 pm - 4:30 pm) Kite Photography Demonstration City: Alviso Description: Using aerial kite photography, photographer Cris Benton has been keeping an incredible visual record of the South Bay salt ponds and wetlands. Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to see his fascinating images and to learn more about how they are made. In the first hour, Cris will introduce us to his current work and what it reveals to us about the landscape we live in. In the second, we’ll move outdoors for a kite photography demonstration.
