Finelite’s LED-Task Personal Lighting system (PLS) is a patent-pending, solid-state lighting system that offers a Task/Low Ambient lighting approach for office lighting while delivering energy savings of over 50%, even compared to the most efficient fluorescent task lights. Finelite also offers a similarly efficient Integrated Classroom Lighting System (ICLS) that teachers unanimously prefer.
When PLS is used as part of Finelite's Integrated Office Lighting System (IOLS), typical offices can achieve lighting power densities as low as 0.50 to 0.65 watts per square foot. Applied nationally, the potential energy savings reaches staggering levels, roughly 28 billion Kilowatt-hours annually or the output of 20 medium sized power plants — and enough energy to power 4.7 million homes.
PLS fixtures are manufactured in a paperless lean environment with significant amounts of recycled content. They are lead-free and made primarily of die cast aluminum and steel components which are 100% recyclable. The lights have an expected life of nearly 30 years when used in an office environment at an average of 6 hours per day.
Finelite is passionate about sharing what they have learned. Over the last two years, over 500 architects and lighting professionals toured their facility to learn how to incorporate best practice into their projects. Finelite also opens its facility to the community by hosting educational meetings for industry groups, local government agencies, non-profits, and other interested parties.
