When Network Appliance Inc. needed a new data center they designed one that would be a model for energy efficiency.
Their innovative design looked at all aspects of the power delivery and cooling systems, from the placement of equipment in racks and rack type and layout, to the delivery of airflow and the central
plant systems. They installed an on-site cogeneration system that reliably powers and cools their mission-critical data center while substantially reducing air emissions.
The heat recovery system generates hot water that is used as energy input to generate chilled water for cooling the facility and the generators run on natural gas for both primary and back-up power.
Use of a cuttingedge flywheel Uninterruptible Power System eliminates the need for batteries and the chiller uses a benign silica gel refrigerant.
