ABOUT THE PROJECT

Palo Alto's Pearson Arastradero Preserve is a 622-acre open space preserve in the Palo Alto foothills. Acterra is in the eleventh year of a unique collaborative effort with the City of Palo Alto to act as stewards of the preserve.

Thousands of dedicated volunteers, together with Acterra staff restore habitat, install native plants, remove invasive species, and otherwise work together to increase biodiversity on the Preserve.

Upcoming Events

Spring is a gorgeous time on Pearson-Arastradero Preserve.

Fiddlenecks, poppies, and lupines are blooming. Buckeyes and valley oaks are leafing out, and the later daylight hours allow us to see owls on the wing as we finish the day to the tune of tree frogs and a rich cascade of night's blue skies.

Later daylight hours also herald the advent of Weed Warriors and Wonder Women's 2008 season. We meet every Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Gateway Facility and spend those hours making friends, getting excellent exercise, and helping habitat by removing invasive plants. To join us, drop a line at arastradero*acterra.org.

Please also check out our Saturday restoration events and interpretive hikes, including our upcoming Full Moon hike in May.

The Preserve is a lovely place for solitary rambles hikes and bike rides. Click here for information about how to maintain and respect this natural haven while you enjoy it.

Hope to work with you soon!
